Birmingham, 6 August 2009. Melville Exhibition and Event Services, a GES Worldwide Network company, today announced the introduction of two new technology-focused innovations to further enhance show organiser and exhibitor service levels: a real-time floorplan download website and a live exhibitor online chat forum.



Real Time Floorplan Download Website


Melville have developed a secure floorplan download website that organiser clients can access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to obtain the latest version of their event floorplan.


Melville’s floorplanning department developed the site to allow existing clients in the U.K. and the Middle East on-demand access to a number of different floorplans, including full technical layouts and sales plans. The plans are to scale and are available in a pdf format and other file formats, including “dwg,” the industry standard Autocad software file type.


The floorplan site is secure and fully password protected, so event organisers will be able to view and download only their own floorplans. The site is fully backed up, providing safe and secure storage. The website is also managed in house by Melville’s floorplanning department, which provides for instantaneous floorplan downloading and uploading on demand, providing organisers with instant access to updated floorplans.

Live Exhibitor Online Chat


This unique and innovative service allows exhibitors to communicate via the internet in real time to Melville’s main service centre personnel located at their U.K. headquarters in Birmingham. The service is currently accessed via Melville’s websites at www.melville.co.uk and for the Middle East www.melville.ae


Exhibitors’ questions relating to a show are handled by a secure one-to-one discussion thread between the exhibitor and a Melville service centre representative. Responses are provided instantly, resulting in a quick, seamless resolution to the exhibitor’s query. 


Using a simple user interface, exhibitors can communicate live online without any of the time delays that can be experienced using more traditional methods of communication, such as email, fax or post. The service will also operate outside of regular U.K. business hours to handle enquires both from Europe and the Middle East, where Melville now operate a full contracting service.
